CONSOLIDATED PBY-5 CATALINA II A
Description : The PBY Catalina was an American flying boat of the 1930s and 1940s. It could be equipped with depth charges, bombs, torpedoes, and .50 Browning machineguns and was one of the most widely used multi-role aircraft of World War II. PBYs served with every branch of the US military and in the air forces and navies of many other nations. LIMITED EDITION
Description : The superb amphibious ‘Cat’ entered service in 1939 and was immediately successful in its various roles. The type from 209 squadron spotted the Bismarck during the famous action in the Denmark Strait in 1941. Weaknesses such as a slow flying speed, lack of crew armour and no self-sealing tanks, led to more suitable roles for the “Cat”.
Coinciding with the development of effective radar, and Japanese reliance on night transport led to the development of the “Black Cat Squadrons.”
Description: Typical small boat-launch used in all world’s port areas for personnel transport (military or civilian commanders) to shore and as the pilot boats that navigate big ships or submarines off the ports to open sea.
